"Zona Franca" fully revealed its soul with the opening of a rich cultural program, purely artistic.
From the end of October 2016 until June 2017 there have been numerous evenings with performances, talks and presentations.
Occupy the Kitchen! vol.1
is a series of events with agronomists, farmers, activists, cooks, intellectuals, horticulturists and nutritionists that tell share research and their experiences.
A very important piece of the project is constituted by the performative dinners made by artists who focus their research around food through guerrilla fooding actions.
At the heart of the program there is food as a social and cultural fact, as a privileged expressive medium of contemporary artistic practices.
A principle that all the performances and cultural events have in common is the willingness to trigger reflections and discussions around food acts, consumption choices, awareness of the mass retail system, around the sphere of actions and values that we make with food and act around it.
The season opened on October 31 with "Ceci n'est pas un carnaio", a performance of the young artist Vienna Ruocco, which, with the curating of Evelyn Leveghi and the supervision and artistic direction of Franca Formenti, has given way to a sparkling experimental phase of "Zona Franca".

“Zona Franca” ha rivelato appieno la sua anima con l’apertura di una ricca programmazione culturale, prettamente artistica.
Da fine ottobre 2016 sino a giugno 2017 si sono susseguite numerose serate con performances, talk e presentazioni.
è un ciclo di appuntamenti con agronomi, contadini, attivisti, cuochi, intellettuali, orticoltori e nutrizionisti che raccontano la loro ricerca e le loro esperienze.
Un importantissimo tassello del progetto è costituito in particolari modo dalle cene-azioni performative realizzate da artisti che focalizzano la loro ricerca attorno al cibo attraverso azioni di guerrilla fooding.
Al cuore di tutto c’è il cibo come fatto sociale e culturale, come privilegiato medium espressivo di pratiche artistiche contemporanee.
Principio trasversale a tutte le azioni performative ed eventi culturali è la volontà di innescare riflessioni e discussioni intorno agli atti alimentari, alle scelte di consumo, alla consapevolezza del sistema della GDO, a tutta quella sfera di azioni e valori che compiamo con il cibo ed inneschiamo attorno ad esso.

When we eat, whether at home or at a restaurant, we take for granted that food is readily accessible.
But what if it weren’t?
“Ceci n’est pas un carnaio” is a performance where young artist Vienna Ruocco investigates the levels of accessibility of food and how traditional food production is made impossible. Just like an electric shock or a telluric movement, “Ceci n’est pas un carnaio” will make the audience see the reality and awareness of being consumers in a globalised world.

Quando mangiamo un piatto, tra le mura domestiche o ancor più se siamo seduti al tavolo di un ristorante, diamo per scontato che il cibo sia sempre facilmente accessibile e disponibile.
E se così non fosse?
“Ceci n’est pas un carnaio” è una performance nella quale la giovane artista Vienna Ruocco indaga numerosi livelli di inaccessibilità al cibo. Situazioni di impossibilità di fruizione tradizionale della materia alimentare. Come una scossa elettrica o un movimento tellurico “Ceci n’est pas un carnaio” ci stimolerà a risvegliarci alla realtà, alla consapevolezza di essere consumatori in un mondo globalizzato.
